A Newer List!Please Check
The Glass Block
Donor List!
Updated List Links
Please Check!
Before printing up our glass block donor list, we are giving everyone a chance to look over the list and let us know if there are any mistakes. If your name is missing (and you donated $10), please email kimw@centerlb.org .
Also, if your name is misspelled or if you would like your name separated from your partner (some names are written like this-Jane Doe/Janet Doer), please indicate that in an email as well. Some people thought they were going to be able to put a saying on the plaque. That is not correct. Only names will be placed there. Thank you again for making the glass block project such a success.
Celebrate the Center's
30th Year of Service
To The Community! (click picture for larger version) In celebration of our 30 th anniversary, we are selling glass plaques that will make your message and/or your name a large piece of one of our donor walls.
There are four different sizes and you can have inscribed on each piece whatever you want (in memory of, in honor of, a quote or saying, your name). The pieces will be colored on the back and etched on the front. The prices for the plaques are $1000, $2500, $5000, and $10000. Order them now. They are selling out quickly.
There are a couple of ways you can do this. Go on-line and click the donation button. Under fund, select Glass Plaque Donor Wall, input the amount you want to pay ($1,000, $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000). In the comments section at the bottom, write what you want (saying, name, quote, in honor of, in memoriam, etc.). You can also come into The Center directly, leave your comment and pay at the front desk. Thank you for being a part of The Center's history.
This plaque will hang on the wall. If we ever move to a new building, it will come with us. It is tax deductible.

MYTE - Engaging Our Youth
“It changes people,” says Maria Hernandez, an active MYTE member. Luis Benitez echoes her thoughts by saying that “people are free to express themselves here.” They go on to tell me that they see the positive transformations in themselves and their peers who remain active in the youth program. Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment advocates for the growth of its members by engaging our youth in group activities involving shared leadership training; life skills workshops, such as cooking and communication skills; health workshops, including meditation exercises and Q&A workshops on safer sex. Our recent recreational venture was through the generous invitation of the US Sailing Center in which our youth sailed on the ocean with teams headed by staff, MYTE volunteers, and a MYTE parent. It truly does take a village!
Speaking of parents, the youth program also began its first Parent and Guardian Support Group meeting in February and continues to hold meetings at the last Friday of each month. It is an intimate table where parents and guardians are encouraging and laughing with one another and seeing that they are not alone in the process of acceptance. Created not only as a venue for supporting our parents, this group also assists in the youth program by volunteering to chaperone during recreational events, increasing parent involvement.
Upcoming events for the youth program: community service through working in the Wild Oats garden, more sailing, documentary project with Q Team. Please email Rikka at rikkar@centerlb.org or call her at 562-434-4455, ext. 230 for more information.
