Take Two Slices! By Tom Leary |
Have you ever eyed the fresh baked pie or piping hot pizza about to be served at the dinner table and thought, That looks so good I want it all and then you look around the table and see how many other folks need and deserve a slice too. Well, I have great news you can take two slices and know there's plenty for you to share! What am I talking about? Uncle Sam will soon be mailing you a nice big check to cash and I'm suggesting you think of it as that fresh baked pie or piping hot pizza and you're sitting at the big banquet table at the Center. Now you can keep the whole thing to yourself or imagine passing some of your good fortune onto your friend sitting in the Information and Education chair. That felt good right and there is still more to share. Next you hand a slice to the Health and Well Being chair and to their left a slice to the Social and Cultural Activities chair and finally a nice healthy slice to the Social Justice Chair. You've been so caught up in sharing that you're taken by surprise to see that there are still two large slices left just for you! Also, if your name is misspelled or if you would like your name separated from your partner (some names are written like this-Jane Doe/Janet Doer), please indicate that in an email as well. Some people thought they were going to be able to put a saying on the plaque. That is not correct. Only names will be placed there. In celebration of our 30 th anniversary, we are selling glass plaques that will make your message and/or your name a large piece of one of our donor walls. There are four different sizes and you can have inscribed on each piece whatever you want (in memory of, in honor of, a quote or saying, your name). The pieces will be colored on the back and etched on the front. The prices for the plaques are $1000, $2500, $5000, and $10000. Order them now. They are selling out quickly. There are a couple of ways you can do this. Go on-line and click the donation button. Under fund, select Glass Plaque Donor Wall, input the amount you want to pay ($1000, $2500, $5000, and $10000). In the comments section at the bottom, write what you want (saying, name, quote, in honor of, in memoriam, etc.). You can also come into The Center directly, leave your comment and pay at the front desk. Thank you for being a part of The Center's history. This plaque will hang on the wall. If we ever move to a new building, it will come with us. It is tax deductible. |

You Can Work April 1 - 6th |
| A Great Event, Belmont Shores premiere event planning company, is looking for women to assist with their production of this years Dinah Shore Week in Palm Springs. Staff will stay at one of the host hotels & share a room with other staff. There is down time and staff is welcome to enjoy and attend the activities, as long as they are responsible and do not get out of control. The pay is $9. per hour and each of staff member over 21 years of age will have a "Dinah Tech" pass that gets them into all the events. We encourage a good time but we still have to be professional, as we are there to supply a service. The staff also receives food when on site. They need to be 18 years or older, and can only attend the alcohol events if they are 21 yrs or older. Car Pool arrangements can be made for transportation to and from the event. |
The Center Long Beach has brought back its 20 Something's social group from 7 till 8 pm. This group is meant for all people from age 20 to 29. The group will meet every other week at The Center for a rap session and on the opposite weeks they will have social outings such as bowling, pool night or BBQ.
