Chicken Chucking Championship
Thanksgiving Day, Thurs., Nov. 27, 2008; beachside of the Belmont Olympic Pool, 1 Bennett Ave., Belmont Shore in Long Beach. Part of the Long Beach Turkey Trot festivities. Spare the turkey! It's free to throw the chicken. Before and after the Turkey Trot, participants will take turns using their body (no machines) hurling a rubber chicken across the beach. Besides taking home a 2 1/2-ft. rubber chicken trophy, the Chicken Chucking Champion's fling will determine the amount of the check to be written by organizers to a local food bank -- $2 for every foot the farthest fowl flies. Canned good donations accepted for local food bank. This free-to-enter contest takes place near the finish line -- between the indoor and outdoor pool, on the beach. Be sure to enter -- and don't be a chicken! . Contact Justin@JustinRudd.com or (562) 439-3316. (held in conjunction with the Turkey Trot, gives the runners/spectators something to do while the races are going on)
NEWS
GET INVOLVED - GET THE WORD OUT!
Everyone’s help is needed now to defeat this initiative! The only way we can win is if we identify 100,000 undecided voters and persuade them to vote NO! We have the perfect messages to talk with swing voters, but we just don’t have a big enough team in LONG BEACH to get the job done!
Come join us in building a big team of volunteers by calling your friends and family, fundraising, providing or helping to find daytime office space and/or evening phone bank space. Or help in other ways. Find out more by calling Kathleen Campisano, Long Beach Area Field Manager, 202.577.3139.
Volunteer for a phone bank on Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday evenings, recruit volunteers at an event, become a speaker or trainer, help with office work, help prep our clipboards with materials, find pizza and other food for volunteer actions, do data entry from home, help make confirmation calls from home, sign up your friends and family to help
