We all know how difficult these economic times are. Non-profits, like The Center, who have been dependent on government funding, are forced to take IOU's and live with the uncertainty of state and federal funding.
To keep the doors open, we have laid off personnel, restructured to do bare minimum services, taken furloughs, and cut every possible expense. We continue to fundraise and write grants, but it is clear that the only way that non-profits, like The Center, are going to endure these difficult times is with your help.
The primary need at this time, of course, is money. The Center needs your help to continue to serve the community. Make a donation, no matter the amount. Please do it today! Go to www.centerlb.org and click on the donate button or stop by The Center at 2017 E. 4th St.
Here are other ways that you can help:
Throw a houseparty. Ask people to co-host it with you. Invite your friends to learn about and support our current programs and services.
Throw a fundraiser. People come up with great ideas all of the time, and were delighted to hear them.
Participate in phone banking. We will be calling potential donors twice a week for a month asking them for donations.
Help make the Pink Gala successful by donating to the silent auction or by being a table captain and filling a table. Our Pink Gala is on the Endless Dream Yacht and is coming up September 12.
Donate your time and/or talent. We need to remodel some space in order to provide HIV Counseling and Testing. We need people who will donate their time in terms of construction work as well as materials.
Connect us to potential grants. We have found that we receive more grants from corporations and foundations when we know someone who is connected to them.
Please give to The Center today and consider the many other ways you can help ensure that The Center Long Beach continues to thrive and provide needed services to our community.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
The Center Wants You!
We are in need of volunteers who are willing to do phone banking for The Center, tomorrow, July 14 from 6:30 PM to 9 PM.
The group will go through a half an hour of training and then make phone calls for 2 hours asking people to make donations to The Center.
I cant tell you how important this is right now. Times are tough and money is tight. If you can give your time tomorrow, please do so. Also, if you have your own cell phone and dont mind making calls on it, that would be terrific! Phones and office space are limited here.
