Hate Crimes Community Forum

Sunday, November 6 · 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Bixby Park - in front of the Band Shell
(Broadway & Cherry)

Message From Vice Mayor Lowenthal

I am asking members of the community to get together to discuss collaborative efforts and proactive steps we can take to protect our community from senseless and hateful violence.

The meeting comes in response to a hate crime that occurred on Monday in the Second District involving two victims, as well as another alleged hate crime occuring on Saturday night. Incidents like these are intolerable and a reminder that we must maintain vigilance. While the suspects were in custody only minutes after Monday night's attacks and I am very thankful to and proud of our police, I would like us to dialogue with partners such as LBPD, The Center, business & residential associations.

Warmly, Suja

Bill Cunningham New York

a film by Richard Press

May 5, 2011 - 8:45 PM
@ The Art Theatre

An intimate portrait of Bill Cunningham, the 80 year old New York Times photographer who for forty years has been riding around New York City on his bicycle, documenting fashion trends on the street by day and New York's social scene at night for his two weekly columns in the Sunday Times. Known and beloved by most New Yorkers, and with an international following in the paper and on-line. Bill has been likened to Garbo in that, until now, no one has known a thing about him. Intensely private, and with an aversion to any kind of recognition.

Mention The Center Long Beach when purchasing your ticket
and The Center will receive a donation
