Transgender Day of Remembrance 2017
November 20 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Join The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach, HRC OC/LB/PS, Long Beach Imperial Court and Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez, for the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR). Join us as we stand in solidarity and honor the resiliency of our trans community.
This year’s event will feature a reading of names of those lost over the last year as well as a candlelight vigil.
Keynote Speaker to be announced shortly.
TDoR was created to memorialize those who are killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. This international event is held every November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder on November 1998 was the impetus for the first vigil held in 1999. Rita Hester’s murder, like most anti-transgender murder cases, has yet to be solved.
