The Center Board and Staff at the 30th Annual Long Beach Pride Parade
(l to r Board Secretary Ted Gottis, Vice Chair Christina Bennett, Administrative Director Porter Gilberg, Chairman Ron Sylvester, Board Member Raul Anorve)

Happy National LGBTQ Pride Month!

While the rest of the nation kicks of Pride, The Center and the local LGBTQ community had a fabulous head start at the 30th Annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Parade and Festival in May. The Center was out in full force marching in the Parade along with our fabulous Big Red Bus, hosting two massive booths at the Festival, and volunteering all weekend at main gate ticket sales. A big thanks to the over 150 Center volunteers who helped make this 30th Long Beach Pride a huge success!

The Center and Downtown Long Beach Associates kicked off Pride in style at the 6th Annual Pink Party on May 17. There were a record number of attendees this year, fabulous performances by Jewels Long Beach and a whole host of RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni, and the Party raised over $6,000 for The Center’s Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment (MYTE) Program. Thank you to Jewels, the DLBA, and all The Center volunteers who made the Pink Party the biggest and most successful to date!

With Long Beach Pride over for another year, we’re gearing up for an event-filled summer here at The Center. We have a number of June events for folks of all ages! From our first ever Senior Mixer to our first ever Queer Anti-Prom for LGBTQ youth, there is truly something for everyone. Check out all the info below and visit our newly remodeled website for all the details.

See you at The Center!

PS We’d like to welcome Pine Animal Hospital as our newest Enews advertisers. Welcome to to The Center family!
