Arturo joined The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach in April 2018. He is been working with the LGBTQ community for many years, beginning at LGBT Center OC as a volunteer, then as a HIV counselor focused in the Latino community. He was then certified as an STD counselor and received his Phlebotomy certification and began working for the Orange County Health Care Agency. At this agency he was certified for “Partner Services” to help clients disclose to their partners their STD or HIV status in anonymous or confidential way. He also worked as a Disease Investigator Specialist for Orange County, where he brought patients who had been exposed to Syphilis to a clinic for testing and treatment. Arturo also worked at the Epidemiology Department during a Measles outbreak in Orange County a few years ago. His duty was to interview families about their vaccinations and possible exposure to Measles. From here Arturo moved to The JWCH Institute in Los Angeles area offering HIV/STD testing at Health Fairs and other events throughout Los Angeles County. Arturo now offers his expertise to The LGTBQ Center of Long Beach, where he continues to support the community with prevention and treatment as a HIV and STI tester and counselor.
