Dominique is currently enrolled in the Masters of Psychology /Marriage and Family Therapy at Antioch University L.A. She ultimately wants to obtain a degree in Art Therapy.
Dominique’s path to Antioch was one that began late in life. As the rest of her class mates were heading to college after high school graduation, Dominique was thrown into the school of survival and of self-preservation as a result of being forced out of her family’s home immediately after high school; Dominique lived in a shelter for LGBTQ youth in Los Angeles for several months until she was able to secure her own residence. It was this experience that fostered her desire to pursue a career in psychology so she could provide care and support for others in need. Dominique’s return to school later in life cultivated her understanding for the issues that “older adults” face in life, and thus her appreciation for the challenges that LGBTQ seniors experience.
Dominique was a volunteer a co-facilitator for “Coming Out Support Group” at The Center (LGBTQ) Long Beach since 2010, an educational workshop facilitator (Lifeguard) at The Trevor Project Los Angeles, an intern at LifeWorks – Youth Mentoring at The LA LGBTQ Center and has been an invited guest speaker at Long Beach City College for over 5 years.
