Jess graduated from the University of Redlands with BAs in Music Performance and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies. Before working at The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach, they worked at the LA LGBT’s Youth Center with TAY homeless individuals in Hollywood as a Youth Advocate and Outreach Specialist. Jess began their relationship with The Center while working with the LA Department of Mental Health’s Speak Your Mind Academy which focuses on presenting LGBTQ Mental Health trainings for various organizations. At The Center, in addition to HIV testing, Jess will be working with CSULB’s PPOWER study, which focuses on reducing HIV-related stigma, providing support for routine testing, and addressing homophobia or fears about disclosure for the vulnerable population of Young Black MSM. Jess hopes to continue their education in Health and Wellness, as well as their Master’s in Social Work. Their favorite things include hiking and camping with their Cattle Dog, Rogue!
