The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach is dedicated to serving trans members of the LGBTQ community. We offer several trans-specific services and all other services at the are trans-inclusive and affirming. Our goal is to empower the trans community by providing access to resources such as legal and medical services as well as by advocating for justice and education.
TRANSPORT – Essential Care Services
We understand that there are currently restrictions in access to essential items. The Trans Health Services team is offering delivery of certain essentials such as toiletries, menstruation products, clothing, condoms, and snack/food items for qualifying participants in need.
Appointments are available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm-5pm.
Social & Support Groups
Every Thursday at The Center, 7:00-9:00pm
All support groups at the Center are inclusive of trans members, however we provide several trans-specific groups as well. Regardless of your age, identity, or background, we welcome trans identifying individuals to meet weekly and discuss issues ranging from personal to political, and meet like-minded people who can relate to their experiences.

Rapid HIV Testing and STI Screening
Monday – Friday and Saturday (limited weekend services)
The health services team includes counselors, nurses and medical staff who are capable and ready to be of services to anyone who needs a free rapid HIV test or sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening. We offer screening for gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis as well as free treatment for anyone who has a reactive or positive STI test result. Support Services for People Living with HIV
If you already know your HIV status we can support you in navigating services in Long Beach. Meeting with our Trans Health Coordinator to get connected to a local case manager at various organizations including APLA Health Long Beach and The CARE Program at St. Mary’s Medical Center. We have support groups for newly diagnosed people to provide support and guidance on what happens next. Join our Support Positive Group each Friday to learn more about services, programs and support in Long Beach.
New trans-specific program will be coming soon to our Center.
Mental Health Counseling
Monday – Friday and Saturday (limited weekend services)
Receive counseling services from our team of affirming mental-health professionals. Our intake team will match you with a counselor best fit for your individual identity and needs. Counselors approach treatment with an emphasis on trauma, anxiety, and/or depression informed by experiences of external and internalized transphobia, and support your healing from ciscentrism, racism, and other structural oppression.

Meet one-on-one with a trans-affirming attorney to address a variety of topics, including support filling out paperwork and answering any questions that you may have. We also offer confidential consultations with state-licensed attorneys for legal assistance. By appointment only.

Referral Services and Linkage to Care
If we do not offer a service directly here at the Center, we will get you connected to that service. Our staff works constantly to form new relationships with trans-affirming businesses and services, and provides education to organizations looking to become trans-affirming. Referrals include hormone replacement therapy, primary care doctors, transitional housing services, and more.
The Center is proud to offer a support group for families of transgender children and teens.
Three groups will meet simultaneously:
•Parent/caregiver group (with a parent facilitator and therapist)
•Trans teen group (13-18 year olds with teen facilitator and therapist)
•Child play group ( toddler to 12 year olds, trans* youth and their siblings, full adult supervision)

A social support group for individuals who identify anywhere along the gender spectrum.
The group is supportive in nature, and participants are asked to celebrates their accomplishments and share the issues they face everyday.

Other Trans Resources
The Center for Transyouth Health and Development, a division of the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, promotes healthy futures for transyouth by providing services, research, training and capacity building that is developmentally informed, affirmative, compassionate and holistic for gender non-conforming children and transyouth.
The LGBT Center OC’s Trans*itions Health and Wellness program includes various support groups for trans* persons (children and youth included) and their families, name and gender change clinic, self-defense classes, events committee and a hormone replacement therapy clinic in partnership with Metamorphosis Medical Clinic.
Gender Justice LA is a grassroots organization that is building the the power of the trans* and gender non-conforming community here in LA. They use community organizing and leadership development to make concrete changes in the lives of all trans* people, especially low-income trans* people of color. They seek to build our community’s power to fight for racial, social and economic justice.
The Los Angeles LGBT Center is Southern California’s largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare for trans* and gender non-conforming people.
Naked Truth is an extension of Open Door Ministries, a Christ-centered, open and affirming LGBT church that is exactly that; an open door to all who are looking for a church to call home.
St. John’s Well Child and Family Center welcomes all patients regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, and/or presentation. They provide free or low-cost healthcare for all, regardless of ability to pay. Medi-Cal and most other insurance plans are accepted. Some of their services include comprehensive primary healthcare, hormone replacement therapy, assistance with name/gender change, legal support, HIV testing and counseling, health insurance enrollment, and case management/ referral services.
