Special Events & Projects

Want to help, but can’t commit to a regular weekly volunteer role? Special events and projects are held throughout the year and rely on volunteers like you! You don’t need to be a current Center volunteer or attend an orientation to help out at special events – so you can jump in and get started right away!

Benefits:

Volunteering at The Center has many benefits. You’ll be joining a team of hundreds of volunteers and staff working together to strengthen lives and secure futures. Here are some of the benefits volunteering for our special events can provide:

  • Flexible: whether you can volunteer once a year or once a month, special events provide the opportunity to give back on your schedule.
  • Great for groups! If you’re looking to set-up a volunteer opportunity for a group, events are a great place to start.
  • Kids welcome! Want to volunteer with youth? Many events are perfect for families to volunteer together. We ask that children be old enough to participate in activities, so please consider your child’s ability to contribute when selecting a volunteer opportunity.
  • Work in a center which embraces and reflects the diversity of our community. Meet new people and expand your world view.
  • Make a difference! Every volunteer role is designed to fill a need in our community – your work changes lives.

Current volunteer opportunities:

Memorial Volunteers
The Center’s Older Adult Program will be holding a memorial on July 31st to honor those who have passed away over the last year. Volunteers will help with set-up, greeting guests, and clean-up. This is a memorial and some of our guests may be upset. Volunteers will be asked to interact with all guests in a supportive and caring manner.

Parking: Free street parking is available around The Center. Our lot will be reserved for memorial guests this day. There is also paid parking at the lot on the corner of 4th & Cherry.

Duties: Set-up/tear-down of tables, event signage, and other event areas. Guest check-in.

Health & Safety: Masks and temperature checks are required for everyone entering the building.

Requirements: This position requires the ability to stand and walk on a hard surface for the entire shift as well as lift and carry items. Please contact Kate if you need accommodations (such as a role that is seated).

Program Volunteers

Program volunteers are an integral part of the Center team and support the day to day operations of all of our programs and services. Volunteering in our programs is a great way to share your professional and personal skills to improve our community!

The Center offers a wide variety of programs and services and volunteers support our front desk, youth, and older adult programs. Do you have other skills or interests to share with our community? Contact us to discuss the possibilities!

Is volunteering in a program right for you?

  • Most Center programming is held Monday-Friday. We do have some opportunities that have evening or weekend openings, check the list of current openings below to see which roles are currently recruiting.
  • Program roles often require the ability to volunteer on a regular schedule: the same day and time each week.
  • We generally ask for a minimum of a 3-to-6-month commitment when volunteering in a program.

We are currently recruiting for the following open positions: Some positions may not start until later in the summer or early fall:
• Front Desk
• MYTE Mentor
